Understanding eDPI

eDPI (effective DPI) = Mouse DPI × In-game Sensitivity. It is the single number that determines how fast your crosshair moves per physical inch of mouse movement, regardless of what combination of DPI and sensitivity you use to reach it.

< 600 eDPI

Low — Snipers / Riflers

Maximum precision. Requires large mousepad. Favoured by NiKo (600), ropz (580), frozen (580).

600–900 eDPI

Mid — Most Pros

Best balance of precision and reaction time. Used by ZywOo (800), donk (740), m0NESY (880), broky (620).

900+ eDPI

High — Aggressive / AWPers

Faster flicks, better for close-range. Used by karrigan (1000), electronic (1200), b1t (720, borderline).

Frequently Asked Questions

What is eDPI and how is it calculated?

eDPI (effective DPI) is mouse DPI multiplied by in-game sensitivity. For example, 400 DPI × 2.0 sensitivity = 800 eDPI. Most CS2 pros use between 500–1000 eDPI. Lower eDPI gives more precision for long-range shots; higher eDPI favors close-range play.

What mouse sensitivity do most CS2 pros use?

The majority of top CS2 pros use 400 DPI with an in-game sensitivity between 1.4 and 2.5, resulting in eDPI of 560–1000. ZywOo uses 800 eDPI, donk uses 740 eDPI, and NiKo uses 600 eDPI.

Why do many CS2 pros play on 1280×960 or 1024×768?

Lower resolutions like 1280×960 (4:3 stretched) make player models appear wider and easier to hit. Some pros also report less GPU strain, allowing higher FPS. 1920×1080 is preferred by pros who prioritise visual clarity.

How do I import a crosshair code in CS2?

Open your CS2 settings, go to Game → Crosshair, scroll to the bottom and click "Import Crosshair Code", then paste the code. The crosshair will update instantly.

What mouse DPI do pro CS2 players use?

Almost all professional CS2 players use 400 DPI. A small number use 800 DPI. High DPI values like 1600+ are extremely rare at the pro level because they require very precise micro-movements.
